Walk from Polis to Stavros
It's a very different Polis Beach in winter. No umbrellas or sun lounges, no Lucky and gang under the tree, no boats sailing off to Fiscardo or returning from a day trip around the northern island. The beach is all but deserted, except for the fisherman who take back the bay during the off season, to do what they have done for decades, fish. Unfortunately, without Lucky and his crew of devotees, the beach is also strewn with a fare amount of rubbish. Some washed in on a windy day or two and the rest dumped. For the purpose of this special, we'll concentrate on the good part, green fields after weeks of rain, walking tracks and wild orchids.
