10th May signifies Ag. Nikolaos Day at Mavrona. The Kioni and northern communities, celebrate this day at the Ag. Nikolaos church at Mavrona. What an idyllic spot, right on the water, big pines all around, just lovely. The celebration begins with Papas Babis early morning church service and after a big drink up and eat up with meat on the Spit. Ag. Nikolaos church may be tiny, but it hides a great big secret under the alter, a venetian pillar.
Although it rained overnight and the morning began with some grey skies, it wasn't long before the sun shone again. A really nice way to spend the morning.
