A community statement adorns the belly of Judas and gives a different slant to the biblical phenomenon of 'The Burning Bush'

After the service, Anastasios, the local in charge of dousing Judas in lighter fluid and setting him alight, gives the community what they came to see, flames burning betrayal to the ground.

Fireworks on the Pier herald the parade of Christs body, carried by the locals through the village street, before being layed to rest once again in the church.
After the celebration in Kioni, the community dispersed around the village and the island to eat and drink...vegetarian of course. Many local Ithacans religiously adhere to the No Meat Fast, Greek Easter imposes.

Good Friday ..The Ressurection.. Easter Sunday
It seemed the entire island descended on the small port village of Kioni in northern Ithaca, for the burning of Judas and the Good Friday church service. Papas Babbis had a full congregation for the Good Friday Easter celebration.
