THE HOUSE
Galazio is a gorgeous fully-renovated two double bedroom house in the heart of Ithaca’s beautiful main town Vathi. Out of season, the town is chilled & relaxing, in season busy & vibrant with its restaurants, shops and bars all buzzing, & its harbour full of yachts. You choose which version of Vathi to enjoy according to the time of year, both are lovely! The harbour is just two minutes away from Galazio's garden gate. Or it has its peaceful terrace with sea view, where you'll want to linger.The whole house and garden is for the guests' private use.
The house's interior is calm, uncluttered and inviting. The style is simple, a modern take on Greek cottage.
The house has two comfortable double bedrooms.We believe a good night's sleep is important, so both beds have brand new European kingsize 200x160 pocket-sprung mattresses, 31cm deep with a layer of memory foam for ultimate comfort. This is paired with Egyptian cotton sheets and a choice of feather & down or man-made non-allergenic pillows. Both bedrooms also have brand new a/c units.
The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you’ll need, including a full size electric oven, and a split electric/gas hob (2 gas 2 electric). It is set up this way so that in the event of a power cut on the island, which can happen, you still have gas to cook on.
Inside the house there is a separate modern shower room and toilet (both with basins), plus the rear terrace has a real hit with our guests,
a refreshing outdoor shower where you can shower in private under the Greek blue sky or starlight.
The main terrace with dining table and sea view is our star outside space. Yet you will be surprised by how many other inviting outside spaces you have to enjoy, despite being in the heart of the town. There is the garden itself with citrus trees, roses, an abundance of fragrant plants and a seating area with barbecue and sun loungers. The rear terrace that opens off the kitchen, with herbs, and pomegranate and fig tree (delicious if you are lucky enough to be there when they are ripe). This leads into the private outdoor shower area. Our second bedroom leads onto its own small side terrace with a table and chairs. And we have one other small terrace with its own small table and chairs by the front door - a great shady reading spot with a view. This means you'll always be able to find sun or shade, whichever you're after.
One of the magical things about Galazio is that you are in the heart of town and yet also feel private and secluded. Our garden opens onto a small pedestrian lane, so no passing vehicles to disturb your peace. And yet 3 minutes on foot gets you to the harbour front and your nearest restaurant. You are also a short walk from a good supermarket, laundrette and all the bars, restaurants, cafes and attractions that Vathi has to offer.

Luggage drop off allowed: if you are arriving early or leaving late, you can leave your bags in the locked storage room in the garden - needs to be arranged with us in advance so we can meet you at the property
We do not have washer/dryer facilities on the property, but there is a full launderette 5 minutes away.
Rates range seasonally from €90/night to €280/night. Galazio House is available to book from April to October. Minimum booking of 4 nights required
10% discount for bookings of 7 nights. Check in time is 3pm and check out time is 10am.

NEW in 2024: Greece has introduced a new "climate resilience tax" from March 2024 to help the country recover/rebuild following some devastating wild fires and floods in recent years.
This is a new national tourist tax. For Galazio, we fall into the lowest band and the tax will be just €1.50/day and will be collected in cash, and official receipt issued, before check out.
Galazio offers many views to enjoy from the terrace. The hero view is across Vathi bay, and you’ll be perfectly placed to enjoy the sunset. You also have the view of the Venetian bell tower belonging to the pretty Metropolis church on the other side of the lane. You can see across the town and up to Perahori village perched on the hill across the way. Village views from the side terrace, including a classic set of old whitewashed stone steps. Plus there is Galazio’s own garden and the picturesque ruin next door!
