Easter Sunday 2016 on Ithaca Greece

Did I say Greek Easter is a big day? Did I say it was the biggest on the Greek social calendar? If not, Greek Easter is the BIGGEST celebration on the Greek social calendar. Easter Sunday means the end of Lent and the end of fasting. And if you want to know what an end to fasting looks like, best come to Greece during Easter to see for yourselves.

It started off sunny with blue skies, but soon turned a little grey, but not cold. It looked like rain for a minute, but that passed and the sun came out for quite a bit. Around all the villages, lamb was on the spit and families celebrated by eating as much of it as possible. The smell of bbq permeated across the entire island.
