Celebration of the Resurrection of Christ Saturday 10th April 2004
 
Firecrackers explode and the church bells toll.
 

 

From South to North Ithaca, candles light the way after the celebration of the Resurrection of Christ. .. Locals and visiting mainlanders go to the churches in their district for this service. . In Platrithias the church service was over by 10pm and in Kioni it continued until around 2am. Pappas Babbis services all of the northern island for this particular Easter celebration.

After the last church service and then the traditional Easter soup made of offal, everyone heads off to the bars and clubs of Ithaki. Century Club in Vathy takes the prize this year with the snake dancer who tantalized the crowd.
