What's New On Ithaca Greece
August 2018
Monday 13th - Yesterday's opening of the newly turfed football ground in Stavros was momentus for the Ithaki community and especially for the North Ithaca team of Odysseas, which has it's home ground here. For more pics CLICK HERE or on photograph above.
Wednesday 15th - Last night the Anoghi Panighiri went off with a bang. Huge night of fun and dancing. I think nearly EVERYONE was there. CLICK HERE or on photograph below for more pics. Video coming soon, so check in at Ithaca Greece Movie Room by clicking here.
Thursday 16th - The completely unexpected happened in the early hours of this morning. Thunderstorm, lightning, rain. Unbelievable! Before that happened though, there was a blue sky day and the last August Panighiri.
Above - The Platrithia Panghiri went off with a bang. Even early on the in the night, it was packed and everyone there, excited to have the last real big August fling. Luckily what burst out of the sky in the form of tropical storm, waited for the festival to conclude. If you look closely at the pic, and you're Greek, you may recognize a few well known faces up on that stage, singing their hearts out. Saturday 18th - After the storm we had an overcast day with a cooler temperature. It gave us all a little respite with a good night's sleep.
Still lots of people coming to the island. It's been a bumper year.

Ithaca Greece Summer Fun

Thursday 16th - With the passing of Pananghias, the Platrithia Panighiri, it usually marks the beginning of the end of the peak season, but this year we've had so many surprises, ie many more visitors than expected, weather we didn't expect, that who knows what is usual anymore. A new usual is beginning to form.
Saturday 18th - Below - Pernarakia above Exoghi, affords some of the bets views of the northern island. Some people white knuckle it up the road, but it's actually quite good and enough room to turn the car back around once you get to the top. Although having said that, if you witness quite a few cars heading up, I'd probably wait until a few of them have come back down first.
