What's New On Ithaca Greece
November 2024
Tuesday 1st - Mild, warm days
Monday 4th - It's November and there are still blue skies to be enjoyed. Although Many northern businesses have closed for the season, a few continue to serve the local community and visitors who have come in the 'Off Season'.
Thursday 7th - Now that the rush is over, things are slowly getting back to the 'off season' normal with works going on around the island, in particular, fixing the road to Marmakas. It's a big job, but it's getting done in record time by all reports.

The afternoon Autumn light is very special below in Stavros.
Sunday 10th - Looking back, it's been a hot Summer that started very early in the year so now that the weather is more moderate and cooler at night, it's a nice feeling to get cosy and warm. Below - Vathy.
Tuesday 12th - Here comes the rain again. Greece definitely needs a good watering after such a very, very long hot Summer. The drop in temperature is also much appreciated, albeit a little sudden.
Friday 15th - A week of threatening skies and downpours. There's more rain ahead and maybe a storm or two.
Sunday 17th - I wonder if the snow up north is any indication of what we can expect from this coming winter. It's certainly quite a bit cooler all of a sudden and of course, wetter. Below - Quite a different view of STavros square in the north of Ithaca Greece.
Tuesday 20th - Winter on Ithaca offers a slower, reflective pace, where empty trails and peaceful villages reveal the island’s raw beauty. While snow has already graced northern Europe and who knows, we may see some here too this winter, for now however, we savor Ithaca’s unique charm—a gentle, tranquil winter that feels like a well-kept secret.
Friday 22nd - Amidst the very changeable weather, there is an occasional visitor experiencing Ithaca in it's most natural state, but at this time of year, many of the Ithacan locals take the opportunity to leave the island for a little holiday elsewhere, so the villages, especially, feel very quiet.
Wednesday 27th - Many of those who work hard over the summer months have left the island for their annual leave, looking for sun or snow, leaving the island quite underpopulated.
Above - Frikes Bay.
Updates might be a bit slower over the next couple of weeks while I sink into this awful flu.
Friday 29th - More rain on the way, the colour warning is ony yellow. Below - Vathy.
