What's New On Ithaca Greece
March 2024
Friday 15th - Warmer days and cool nights for Spring on Ithaca. Very pleasant.
Sunday 17th - It's Carnival time. There'll be plenty of pics coming soon. There have been costume parties pre-carnival, all around Ithaca.
Monday 18th - So much going on this past week. Over the weekend we had the annual Stavros Carnival party at the community hall and of course Carnival itself, in Vathy. Today it's Clean Monday so pics of all the celebrations will be coming a bit later.

Tuesday 19th - A lovely day in Anoghi for Clean Monday. Good food and good company. For some pics CLICK HERE or on photo below.
Thursday 21st - So many signs of Spring now. It hasn't been a horrid winter, but it is nice to feel the warmth of the sun again and feel that Spring joy this time of the year brings.
Saturday 23rd - What gorgeous weather this week, well most of this week. We did have some rain on Wednesday, but since then it's been nothing but glorious sunshine.

Sunday 24th - A sunny weekend brings the locals out to enjoy friendships outdoors and of course the blue skies and sunny warmth.
Tuesday 26th - Yesterday Greece, including Ithaca, celebrated Independence Day with a parade and speeches, followed by some traditional dance and off to the cafes for sweets and coffee. For some photos CLICK HERE or on photo below.

Spring on Ithaca Greece
Friday 15th
Sunday 17th - It's all happening in Vathy today. Carnival time.
Monday 18th - Today much of Greece, starts it's fasting for Lent Greek Easter. Today it's all about veggies and fish. Red meats are out. I don't actually know of anyone that keeps to this, but who cares, it's another opportunity to celebrate something with wine, music and good company.
Thursday 21st - Anoghi is still a very special place, maybe because it's far from the tourist stampedes of the low lands, but over the past couple of years the local cafe/restaurant has drawn locals and visitors alike to the village with a unique experience. The views too, are something to make the journey up the mountain for.
Saturday 23rd - Now that Carnival week and Clean sunday are well and truly over, Ithaca is very, very quiet again. Most shops are closed.
Sunday 24th - Ag. Marina church still waiting to be repaired. It's such a shame to let it be unrestored.
Tuesday 26th - As we approach the end of March, Spring is giving us some spectacular days of blue sky and sunshine.
Wednesday 27th - Below - Some sections of the cliffside of Afales has fallen quite significantly into the sea.
