What's New On Ithaca Greece

Thursday 22nd
We've been flying through July and as we near August more people are coming to the island, especially Mainlanders. This year we hear more French accents, German, Dutch and fewer British accents.
Above - Watching the fish in Polis Bay. Below - Sirenes Restaurant in Vathy just behind the Post Office is a favorite among visitors. Great menu and charming outdoor setting.
Above - Spavento Cafe Bar in Kioni still a big favourite for cocktails and enjoying a bayside or village seat. It's a burst of colour in anyone's grey day.
Friday 23rd - More hot days ahead, some with temps soaring over the 40's in some areas. It's a time to cut the grass if it's brown and thigh high.

Below - Just before sundown in Ithaki's capital of Vathy. The streets are alive and so is the village square.
Saturday 24th - Below - Krouvoulia Beach No. 2 has been a local and visitor favourite for decades.

Above - Rementzo Restaurant in Frikes. Poppy and Neks last season on the bay.
Below - Ageri Restaurant in Frikes. It's a trying time, but the mood is high around the island.

Below - Karatsiozi in Kioni last night. It's always a favourite with the kids. Above - Lizzy's Restaurant in Kioni is really putting on a show.
Tuesday 28th - Another month almost over and temperatures are due to soar into the high 30's and beyond over the next week, let's all be extra careful not to light any fires outside. The smallest spark can start something we may not be able to fight. No throwing cig butts out of windows. I'll personally chase you down if I see that.
Above - Pantopoleion in Kioni. This mini market has been around for decades. From Father down to daughter and daughter down to sons. Pano is the 3rd generation to be feeding Kioni and it's visitors. Below - Summer in Greece is as much about food as it is about sun and sea. Delicious below from being a new comer a couple of years back is now a staple stop for some good wholesom Grill.
Friday 30th - Some soaring temperatures we're having. Yesterday reached into the mid 40's and it's supposed to continue for some time. A sizzling heatwave.
Saturday 31st - Goodbye July.

Summer on Ithaca Greece
Thursday 22nd
It's so great to not only see faces, but smiling faces again.

Friday 23rd - Blue skies, hot days and balmy nights best describe the weather during Summer on Ithaca Greece.
Saturday 24th - 25C overnight nearly every night makes sleeping without some breeze or aircon a bit of a challenge and the weatherman says it's going to get even hotter.
Tuesday 28th - No big village parties again this year and going by the ever increasing restrictions, it may be something of the past if you're unvaccinated.
Friday 30th - The end of another month and in the height of Summer, we're all a little wary about what the future looks like, so luckily it's so hot that even thinking requires too much energy.
Saturday 31st - If you've ever walked past the Kioni bell tower while the half hour or hour bell rings, you know what having the hell scared out of you feels like. Guess it's doing it's job :) (Joke, don't be offended)
