July 2022

Saturday 20th - Vathy definitely has the bulk of visitors to the island. So many yachts in the harbour during the week there's barely room to manouvre some days. Yachts and cars everywhere, but look around at the cafes and they are not so busy as you'd expect from all the sea and road traffic.

Monday 22nd - A slightly cooler change yesterday, giving us some respite from the heat over this past month.

Saturday 27th - After a couple of blips on our weather front, it didn't disrupt our August too much on Ithaca. It's back to hot weather again. Below - Vathy Bay. And the yachts keep sailing and motoring in.

While so many holiday on our paradise island, some make sure we can enjoy a clean environment to holiday in by working through the Summer heat. Below - Vathy.

You can see the works of art in Vathy at the end of the little lane just left of AB Supermarket when coming from the town square. Viewing times in the morning and evening. Summer on Ithaca Greece

Sunday 20th

2022 has definitely been a bumper to bumper year for tourism. It's much appreciated, but sometimes there is just too much for this small island to cope with as the infrastructure doesn't unfortunately get the budget from the government it deserves, considering it's Odysseas' Island. ithaca needs tourism, but we need tourism that doesn't break the island.

Monday 22nd - Weekends are usually quiet compared to weekedays. Still plenty of visitors holidaying on and around Ithaca.

Saturday 27th - As we head to the end of another month, it doesn't seem to be getting too much quieter. I think we'll have a busy September too.

Above and Below - Frikes in the north of Ithaca.

Below - The road to Loutsa outside of Vathy in the south of Ithaca.

Below - Fimios is putting on a presentation of I AM FOREIGN...REFUGEE. 100 years since the Asia Minor catastrophe which had refugees flee all the way to Ithaca. This presentation will take you through the history with archives and news from the era. On the 29th August at Ag. Ioanni in Kioni. Starts 9pm and on the 30th August at the Plateia Ethnikis Antistasis at 8pm and at 9pm in the garden of the Eparxeiou.

Sunday 28th - Paint the Lyric Arts Festival on in Vathy.

Monday 29th - below - Aetos Bay looking toward forkys.

Tuesday 30th - A couple of breaths away from the end of August and people are already looking a little thinner on the ground. With Schools starting again soon, Mainlanders are heading back to the cities.
