What's New On Ithaca Greece
June 2025
Tuesday 10th - Below - Anoghi is like being on another island. In places it's like rocks have just been dropped from above. Big boulders and scrub that you don't see in the low lands.
Friday 13th - We're having some very hot weather this past week. It doesn't take long for the landscape to dry and wither, but happily, Summer means being near the cooling sea breezes (sometimes). Below - Kioni - The beach is that way!
Below - In Anoghi, way above the baysides and beaches, lays this mountain village. It's slowly being discovered by visitors and so it's of great benefit that the community now has an interactive information center/exhibition, with a library upstairs. Everyone is welcome to have a look inside. It's open to the public.
Above - Early morning Tavli.
Above - If you haven't ventured to the other side of Vathy Bay, you should really get yourselves over there. It's not the dark side of the moon, just the other picturesque vantage point of Vathy wonderful natural deep bay. Sit yourselves down at Agathi Restaurant where you don't just enjoy the view, but the flavours they offer.
Monday 16th - It's heating up in more ways than just the weather. Lots of people coming in on a daily basis, either by yacht or Day Tripper bus tours and boats. Some periods of the day are very hectic, but then when the transients leave, it's still quite peaceful on our little island of Ithaca Greece. Below - Ag. Sarantas in the north of Ithaca.
Above - Pandazis Fruit and Veg market in Vathy.
Above - Karamela Cafe in Vathy has been a popular local haunt as well as one that visitors, especially those coming in on yachts, have loved for over 10 years.
Tuesday 17th - While the world is in a precarious shape, Ithaca is the perfect place to hide out and forget the troubles of this troubled world just for a little while.
Wednesday 18th - On a hot day, there's no better place to hang out than on the other side of Vathy Bay where you'll find the road to Loutsa beach, lined with shady pine trees..

Summer on Ithaca
Tuesday 10th
Looks like we're in a bit of a heatwave. It's hot! It's humid! Summer here we come.
Above - We don't have deer on Ithaca, so don't be fooled by the signs, I think it's just because they don't have 'goat' signs.
Friday 13th - If you're a little worried about experiencing any bad luck on this fateful calendar date, worry not, because Greece has Tuesday the 13th.
Why Tuesday?
-
In Greek tradition, Tuesday is linked with bad luck because:
-
It's the day Constantinople fell to the Ottomans (May 29, 1453 — a Tuesday).
-
In Greek, Tuesday is called "Triti" (Τρίτη), which also means "third" — and the number 3 is sometimes linked with bad luck in folklore (as bad things come in threes).

Monday 16th - The start to another week. Below - Ag. Sarantas is a village where so many of the homes display some lovely blooms.
Tuesday 17th - Summer on Ithaca Greece.
Wednesday 18th - May and June is the time big yachts throw their ropes to our shores.
